Champlain, George Andrew Reid drawing

ca. 1908

This work fits the description of "Champlain Dreams of the way to Cathay" listed as 1931 in Muriel Miller Miner's G. A. Reid, Canadian Artist (Toronto: The Ryerson Press, 1946). "The black-haired explorer in steel cuirass sits at a table in front of an open window of L'Habitation; through the window his three-masted sailing vessel, Le Don de Dieu, is seen lying at anchor."
There is another "Champlain Dreams the way to Cathay," listed without description, as 1908. Presumably this is a study for that work.
