Fine Silver Coin - 400th Anniversary of Samuel de Champlain in Huronia - Mintage: 10,000 (2015)

In 2015, the Royal Canadian Mint commemorated the 400th anniversary of Samuel de Champlain’s journey to Huronia with a coin crafted in 99.99% pure silver.

The coin, designed by Canadian artist Laurie McGaw, emulates the 17th century astrolabe, associated with Champlain.

On the website page, are a description of the historical context, information about the design and the specifications of the coin that is worth $3. As well, there is a short “Did you know” entry about the Wendat, Étienne Brûlé, the astrolabe and Champlain.
